Beginning Your Wedding Skincare Journey

Zalia began her skincare regimen approximately six months before her wedding day. "I had a really solid routine before I started prepping my skin for my wedding, but I wanted to address a couple of concerns I had as I suffered with a bit of texture and the occasional breakout," Zalia describes. She emphasises the importance to her of addressing hydration brightness and skin texture to get her to where she wanted to be by her wedding day.

Opting for HydraFacials, renowned for their ability to rejuvenate and hydrate the skin, Zalia found this non-invasive treatment to be a game-changer when aiming for a radiant complexion.

"I'm not very good with injections, so I definitely wasn't looking for anything aesthetic wise," Zalia explains.

Kimberly expresses the popularity she sees in HydraFacials in-clinic just before the wedding season. "HydraFacials are really, really popular in-clinic and we have a lot of brides come in just before the wedding season because it's a non-invasive treatment and it gives you a real glow," she says. "It's a fantastic treatment to have done."

Determining Your Wedding Skin Treatments Timeline

She does advise anyone who is thinking of having any type of treatment to not try anything new around two weeks before your wedding, just in case something causes breakouts on your skin.

In contrast to Zalia's skin prep, Kimberley took a more extended approach, commencing her skincare journey 12-18 months prior to her wedding date. With specific concerns such as hydration and fine lines in mind, Kimberley underwent a series of treatments, including Profhilo and anti-wrinkle injections.

"You can only have the anti-wrinkle injections every three months and then try it again so that's the reason why it took so long for me," Kimberley explains.

A Bride's Guide To Prepping Skin For Your Wedding Day

When it came to at-home skincare, both Zalia and Kimberley incorporated targeted products into their routines to complement their in-clinic treatments. Kimberley relied on clinic-exclusive brands, whilst Zalia introduced weekly treatments like the Decree Weekly and Decree SOS Revitalising Mask to address texture and hydration concerns effectively.

"I added the weekly treatment from Decree which is a two part treatment," Zalia explains. "One side is a replenishing paste and the other side is the acid treatment. You put that on for a really short amount of time and then apply the replenishing paste after. This helped with all of my texture and gave me a fabulous glow before my big day."

Zalia does recommend that anyone who is wanting to try this treatment to give a good 6-8 weeks before your wedding just to make sure you don't suffer with any reactions.

"Another product that worked really well in conjunction with the Weekly Decree was the SOS Revitalising Sheet Mask," Zalia says. "This is something I would recommend using on a weekly basis. I also used it the night before my wedding to make sure my skin was super hydrated, glowy and ready for makeup."

Kimberley loved her addition of ALLSKIN MED GF Regenerating Ampoules to give her skin a little extra boost. "The growth factor ampoules really helped to strengthen and brighten my skin, and it was a fab product to add into my routine," Kimberley says.

The Importance Of Wedding Day Skincare Consultations

"Working in clinic for eight years, I would always advise everyone to go for a skincare consultation, whether that be an in-clinic consultation wherever you live, or if you're nearby, come and see me." Kimberley says. "Or you can have virtual consultations which we offer, and then you can determine whether it's the skincare approach you need to go down, whether you want a kind of aesthetics treatment, facials, or injectables, and then you'll get a timeline of how long you need to prepare before your big day."

Zalia And Kimberley's Top 3 Tips For Skin Wedding Prep

1. Professional Skincare Advice

"My first top tip would be to always make sure you get professional skincare advice and start prepping your skin well in advance." Kimberley advises.

2. Drink Water And Stay Active

Drinking water is vital for skin health as it maintains optimal moisture levels promoting a plump, supple complexion. Keeping up with your daily water intake will support your skin functions like cell regeneration and repair, enhancing elasticity, and texture. This will ensure you prevent blemishes and promote a clear, radiant complexion from within for your big day.

3. Always Use An SPF

"Make sure you're always using an SPF," Kimberley advises. "If you haven't used one before, make sure you choose one that's right for your skin type. This way your skin is always protected."

As you prepare to walk down the aisle, remember: your wedding day is a celebration of love, joy, and new beginnings. With glowing, radiant skin as your canvas, you'll step into this new chapter of your life with grace, confidence, and timeless beauty.
